View Full Version : Anybody get wet today?
Just curious how it was. Heard Rincon was crowded in the morning...

I was one of the many at the Con Friday a.m. Indicator and Cove were JAMMED with peeps, so me and 2 other dudes tried our luck at the Rivermouth. Got a handful straightaway, but the draining tide squashed what little "swell" there was.
But it was beautiful. Glassy, blue, and not reeking to the high heavens like C street was the prior 2 days!

C St. can get that way -- especially when the winds and currents are going a certain way.
The Ventura sewage outfall is pretty intense...
Thanks for the Friday report, btw.
Today was a lake, but the new swell is supposed to fill in tomorrow.
Monday morning is looking very promising for Rincon...
Longboarders, go to Devro

Swell. Tide. Crowd. Wind. Managing those 4 factors, plus my kooky a** self trying to learn this new 6'6" made for more than a little frustrating sesh at C st. this am.
I knew it was going to be swamped so I hit Johnny's for a burrito breakfast, and figured I'd watch the tide drain and paddle out when I was done eating. I shoulda paddled out straight away and let my dog eat the burrito. Garwt!
What was so frustrating was the CROWD. What I like about Rincon is that the longboarders generally stay in the cove, so I can at least know that another shortboarder is taking waves from me--that seems fair. But at C street, there were soooooo many longboarders--plus the shortboarders who RIP--at Pipe that I just had no chance at all. Once the onshores kicked in and the draining tide did it's work, the swell was smushed. I drove back up the coast in my wetsuit hoping for more of SOMETHING, but was thwarted. That's what I get for trying to surf on a Sunday morning!
It was Miller Time at that point. Thank god for Island brewco...:D

Thanks for the report!
I heard from a friend that up North it was bombing solid double overhead, even bigger on the sets.
I didn't surf but went down to Rincon for an hour this afternoon to shoot some pics.
Here's an example of a set wave from today.

Rincon was still firing this morning. Glassy with offshores, chest to head high and looking really fun.
Get out there this afternoon, should still be fun!
