And who knew mondo's would be such a conducive spot to shortboard.

First checked Rincon after having been let on by my classmate that it was 'shortboard worthy today'.

Brought my 6'2 to mondo's, rode from 4-6~. Woulda stayed longer, but some rather hilarious drama occured.

I tried mondo's a year ago on a 6'6 and it was disastrous.

I was pleasantly suprised.

Although just about the only thing you can do there on a shortboard is pump, it was still fun given the size.

Good size, bit windy and choppy, but I missed the LOOOOOONG lines.

It's weird, because after having surfed mostly at Rincon / Campus Pt, it's such a total change (actually, Rincon breaks totally differently than at Campus, but whatever). It's a TOTALLY different 'way' out there, in so many ways.

Starting around 5:30~ outside sets started to come in, and the size increased. Had some FUUUUN drops hah.

Unfortunately, this amazing session was cut short because of previously mentioned circumstances.

Looking back this incident is quite amusing.

Thus the stoke was killed and negativity infused itself within our bodies.

PS - any suggestions for spots further down south from Mondo's?

What Kind Of Drama???????

I was with my very good friend. We both took our boards and backpacks down. We hit the waves. After an hour or so he tells me hes gonna go in for a bit and come back out. 30 minutes later I decide to go in to get some water.

Low and behold, my friend is no where in sight, and my and his bag is not where we left it.

There wasn't anything particularly important in that bag, but stuff that would cost me $50~ to replace. + I wanted a drink (the water was in said bag).

I'm thinking the bags are stolen, and my friend is no where to be found so I either assumed he paddled back out to find me, or just dissapeared to who knows wear. I'm trying to find him, I'm looking into the water to find him, looking on the road, checking at the car, etc etc. This whole process has taken 45 minutes. That and I'm furious that someone stole my bag and is now depriving me of the proper hydration I need to continue this very fun surf session. So I climb back down once again to the beach, and I walk towards the water a bit, and I just barely see my friend laying down HALF WAY DOWN the beach.

I run over to him, and immediately I know. He moved the bags. He moved not just his, but mine. This would have been fine if it was within reasonable distance of where we left them, or an easy spot to see. But, he was right up against the rocks, lying down, with the surfboard turned over making it look just like the other two dozen boards lying on the beach. I just felt annoyed because I was searching for him all this time, and I wasted a lot of my time that I could have been surfing.

The reason he moved: 'he wanted to tan'. You do not get a tan...at 5:30PM. Fury ensues. I decide to end this session early, because of this nonsense. We have one long quiet drive home. Me smoldering.
