Pretty refreshing to trunk it in mid-August. The water was ridiculously warm (felt like 70), sea surface glassy, with most waves waist-. Some of the better set waves were pushing chest-high.
Right when I got there just after the high tide a guy in a kayak had hooked a small (40-50 lb) Thresher Shark just outside the lineup that actually caused his kayak to roll over while the shark was hooked. Fortunately, his pole stayed in the rod holder, and he managed to stroke the longtail once he righted the craft...
By afternoon the lineup was packed, and once I got up to the parking lot I could see that both lots were full. It was still a bitchen day...
