What the name of that surf spot about 20 min south of Montecito, visible from the 101. It's locate right in front of a train trestle.

Is that a good place to teach my 7 year old to surf?

Hey Sham,

Best places for a beginner are Mondos (just east of Faria campsites) and the Santa Claus lane beach. Sandy bottom and very mellow...except if it's today...it's going off!!!

I was there today checking the swell. Kind of a ratty place actually. Hobo Jungle is an appropriate name. The waves were breaking about 500 miles off shore. Way the hell out there.

The word "Hobo" is so dated. Now we call them "Homeless" or something worse. A hobo has an air of romance. Things are different now.

I believe you're talking about mondos. I learned there, but now I stick to campus pointe, which is way less of a drive for me than mondos. Very fun break, don't bring your short board unless it's a bigger day. I rode a 7'2 fun board there and it had no problem catching waves.

I'm confused now. The spot I went to on Big Wednesday was a State Beach called Emma Wood. Is that Mondo's?

The Beach Near Ventura Pier Is A Safe Beach With Good Waves
