Subject: Co hearing to impose beach parking fees Tuesday!!

OPPOSE Consideration of County Beach Parking Fees!!!
Board of Supervisors Hearing Tuesday

Hoping we would not discover their secret until too late, the County buried a proposal to charge parking fees at all beaches and parks in a long list of Revenue items. It’s outrageous that they even consider using the parks as a County fund-raiser to balance their budget!

So now, unless we act strongly and quickly, these parking fees will become a permanent income stream to the County, from us. Once in place, we will have to pay to enter our own public spaces, forever into the future!

What Can You Do to stop this? -- Contact all five County Supervisors (contact info below).

Tell them to keep our parks free for the community!

emails, phone calls and letters do really count and that several Supervisors reconsidered their vote based on input from the community. So --

1) Right now, send off a quick email to them
2) Call the Supervisors
3) Forward this on your other email lists and ask them to take action now
4) To make a huge impact, come to the Supervisors’ hearing. If you want, fill out a slip for Public Comment and say what you think about these parking fees.

WHEN: Tuesday, May 20 or Tuesday, May 27, 9AM or soon after
WHERE: the Supervisors Hearing Room, County Admin Building, 4th Floor

Here are the parks and beaches that we will lose access to, unless we ACT!

South County Parks -
Goleta Beach, Arroyo Burro Beach, Tucker's Grove Park, Rocky Nook Park, Manning Park, Toro Canyon Park, and Rincon Beach

North County Parks -
Lookout Beach, Ocean Beach, Nojoqui Falls Park, Rancho Guadalupe Dunes County Park, Waller Park, Los Alamos Park, and Santa Rosa Park

We need to tell the Supervisors to curb spending and keep our parks free!

Yikes! I'm sending off an email to my 'mom group'. We take our kids to a lot of those places. It's gross to think we'd have to pay to watch them play on the jungle gym.

Sounds like it is off for now. Firestone was definitely in favor.
7:36 in or so is where it is discussed.
