They say swell is coming, Bobby has surf against Jordy Smith in his next heat. Should be interesting for both of them.

what? jordy the phenom overruns bobby...for us homies the consolation is that bobby's excellent back-hand attack, punctuated with the crispest snaps still keeps us rooting for his dream...

Pro surfing is such a crap shoot. I watched all Bobby's heats last year and his results had little to do with talent. Luck of who gets the wave, how the surf is in your heat, it was rarely just pumping choose your wave and rip. In this one the surf was marginal although decent for a contest. Jordy got a lot more waves and in my opinion was over scored. He did deserve to win. Bobby blew his best wave and got out manuvered in the chase for waves. Oh well. He did get a high 8 which is a good sign that the judges still like him.

As a failed former NSSA surfer, I agree with this. However, the best guys seem to have a that wierd 6th sense of where the set wave will be and what wave to take.
Personally, I think Kelly Slater might be an alien--the mothership, orbiting hundreds of miles above the earth, probably transmits wave locations to him telepathically. All that telepathic radiation is what has cause his hair to fall out. Just a theory.

shamgod, did you see kelly at snapper rocks, blazing past andy and inspired and impressive against a trying fanning for "the win"!
what gene pool is he from? those Merrick's, uh...he was skating when others were pushing...it goes on and on...how was the party on the mother-ship?
