'power objects'...many cultures including our surfing ohana know that there are objects imbued with mana and to be receptive to this mana can have a profound effect in your world...so take a lil' trip, take a lil' trip, take a lil' trip with me; a 'jaws tale in three parts: 1. my discovery, 2.a healthy relationship and 3. oh happy dayz...premiere partie; in a time long, long ago when listening to my heart took me to a land far, far and away from my rincon, i came to my senses and let the waves of the lost world of my new home become my new reality. everything i did became focused to reap the potency of those waves including redesigning my quiver to tap their energy...don't you always know a good shaper when you see them [their boards]. i had always an eye open for a magic board and that fateful day i read mike perry's dissertation in surfer mag about the surfboards he was creating in his new home australia i knew i had to have one. i met his arrival back in socal that summer of '80 with a letter expressing my needs and, hopefully, his talents to create the board that would set those cold waves a fire. we talked on the phone thereafter and when my wife made a trip down south to her parents she stopped by zuma jay's and brought my perry-aye to me. oh the potential energy of that wondrous shape as i ran my hands down along the rails and over the foil for the first time, i was intuitively making the connections between this new inanimate object and the mountainous swells that layed outside in the powering rain...mana be mine...'don't you just know it'...partie deux plus tard...
