MVI's to MPG, MP4, or AVI

I'm trying to upload some vids of Campus Point today, they are in MVI format, and youtube seems to upload some, and fail others.

I'm wondering if anyone knows an easy way to convert them into more common formats, such as MPG, MP4, or AVI?

I think that you need some video editing software; I bet you can find something open source online...
