Went out early morning, nice 10-12' (faces) most people on 7'+ pintails. Lots of big pits and broken boards. Anyone else get a piece of that? Herd is was good the day before also.

Valid thread but I edited the title to make it a little less obvious.

Looking at IP logs for this site, the majority of the traffic is from our area. No need to name the exact spot directly -- especially for sensitive breaks. Most everyone here will figure it out...

Thanks for the post Talcott and for keeping us straight Jay.

You guys are kidding yourselves. 37 years ago on hot summer south swell days I saw 200 people there, 20% from Lompoc, 50% from SB and the rest from LA. In 2008 thinking you have something to hide is a figment of a delusional imagination.

Usually by the 2nd week of December, most surfers have had their fill. This year has been pretty weak, and thus, more desperation is evident.

If you put in all of the effort to go surf (i.e. wake up, drive, hike, change, spend gas $,whatever) why make it easier for the next guy? The internet is a powerful tool, it should be treated as such. If you come across something special, preserve it... you never know how far a whisper can carry. There are alot of good people on here, especially the ones that contribute. But at the same time all the kiddies can perch up and feast upon the information buffet that is often layed out for them. Keep it real.

Is the whole surf sessions thread category the problem then. Or should we set a 1 whole day after rule when posting in it.

You guys are all delusional. It may be a myth but one of the all time best surfer sayings is attributed to none other than Gerry Lopez: "A local is a loser who couldn't get his act together to travel!"

Russell, your cute quote is out of context, but nice try.
Keep it real, dudes. The grom is right--we all know what we're talking 'bout here.

This is just bringing us back to the whole "what is a local" ordeal.
The crowd sucks lately but the right people are still getting the best waves and it will always be like that, locals or no locals. its just not really a soulful sport anymore. to many people.

gettin' it...the name game, the cell phone mania, the powerful tool, rules and regulations...sbs is a treasure trove of embedded sb county surfers, they need not be told...read their threads...cryptic, shape shifting,'now you see it now you don't' descriptions of people, places, things and especially session stories...pay attention, sort it out, enjoy the mystery, find your own mystery. it can be shared but you need to find your own decoder ring...someone has already left the paddock gate open...so 'take a step outside your mind', the waves are out there and if you want share your house of mirrors with us, we like trying to find our way around... if it's 'real' wave tales you want, check the member list, they have it spades...gettin' it
ps props and thanksl you have a couple of bro' administrators like jonS and bonzer, watchin' out the back.

funny topic of talk forumnites- sounds like a story i read somewhere once upon a time...the lands north are indeed a magic bubble where weather patterns generally blow but when they do find their groove they seem to do so for a few days in a row. if you spill the beans about the goodness you are only inviting more wavehunters to join you. this may or may not be a bad thing but it is a very real thing nonetheless. that being said, when the right is smoking well overhead and stacked to the horizon you are always alone no matter how many hooded old men on rhino chasers were bobbing next to you mere minutes before.

we are delusional to an extent; russell, how would you feel if he came from the islands reporting talcott or skunks? anyone can buy a boat and get out there, but i would still be disappointed/angry. the sessions section is cute and fun for campus, rincon, etc but posters should respect our greater gems, the islands and jalama.

you all miss the point. its not about naming the spots.
telling peeps what is working is what draws the crowd.
